Stephen Sykes

Stephen Sykes is the Director of Sustainability at the East Lancashire Chamber of Commerce, overseeing the Chamber Low Carbon programme, which helps businesses reduce their carbon footprints and improve performance through renewable energy and low-carbon technologies. His career spans nearly 4 decades, starting in chemical manufacturing, followed by roles in environmental management and as a sustainability consultant for various organisations. Stephen has worked with numerous local governments on action on climate change. He also supports businesses through the B Corp certification process, he is a recognised B Leader. Stephen co-founded 2030hub, the world’s first UN recognised local 2030hub localising the Sustainable Development Goals and now part of the local2030 Coalition.

Stephen has been involved in international sustainability efforts, working on projects in Belgium, Ukraine, Romania, Japan, including speaking at events and leading trade missions, such as to COP 28 and COP29 conferences in Dubai and Azerbaijan. He is dedicated to helping businesses achieve their low-carbon goals.
